### **Product Datasheet: AL-600™ / INCONEL® 600 (UNS N06600)** **A Nickel-Chromium-Iron Alloy for High-Temperature and Corrosion-Resistant Applications** --- #### **1. Overview** **AL-600™**, commercially known as **INCONEL® 600**, is a nickel-chromium-iron alloy designed to withstand high temperatures and corrosive environments. The alloy combines excellent mechanical properties with good corrosion resistance, making it suitable for applications ranging from cryogenic temperatures to 1175°C (2150°F). The alloy's high nickel content provides resistance to chloride-ion stress-corrosion cracking, while the chromium content offers resistance to sulfur compounds and oxidizing environments. Its versatility has made it a standard material in aerospace, chemical processing, and heat treatment industries. --- #### **2. Chemical Composition (Typical Weight %)** | Element | Content (%) | Role in the Alloy | | :--- | :--- | :--- | | **Nickel (Ni)** | Balance (~72.0) | Provides resistance to reducing environments and forms the matrix | | **Chromium (Cr)** | ~14.0-17.0 | Confers resistance to oxidizing environments and sulfur compounds | | **Iron (Fe)** | ~6.0-10.0 | Provides solid solution strengthening | | **Manganese (Mn)** | ≤ 1.0 | Improves hot workability | | **Copper (Cu)** | ≤ 0.5 | Residual element | | **Carbon (C)** | ≤ 0.15 | Enhances high-temperature strength | | **Silicon (Si)** | ≤ 0.5 | Residual element | | **Sulfur (S)** | ≤ 0.015 | Kept low to prevent hot cracking | --- #### **3. Physical Properties (Typical)** | Property | Value / Condition | | :--- | :--- | | **Density** | 8.47 g/cm³ (0.306 lb/in³) | | **Melting Range** | 1354-1413 °C (2470-2575 °F) | | **Thermal Expansion Coefficient** | 13.3 μm/m·°C (20-100°C) | | **Thermal Conductivity** | 14.8 W/m·K (at 100°C) | | **Modulus of Elasticity** | 214 GPa (31×10⁶ psi) | | **Electrical Resistivity** | 1.19 μΩ·m | | **Magnetic Response** | Essentially non-magnetic | --- #### **4. Mechanical Properties (Annealed Condition)** **Room Temperature Properties:** * **Tensile Strength**: 550-690 MPa (80-100 ksi) * **Yield Strength (0.2% Offset)**: 240-415 MPa (35-60 ksi) * **Elongation**: 35-55% **Elevated Temperature Performance:** Maintains good strength and oxidation resistance up to 1175°C (2150°F) **Low Temperature Performance:** Excellent mechanical properties at cryogenic temperatures --- #### **5.
