**Technical Note**: Nickel 272 requires specific heat treatment in hydrogen atmosphere to achieve optimal magnetic properties. The recommended annealing cycle involves heating to 1100-1150°C (2010-2100°F) in dry hydrogen, followed by controlled cooling at 100-200°C per hour to 400°C (750°F), then air cooling to room temperature. The alloy exhibits excellent response to cold working and can be effectively formed into complex shapes. For best magnetic performance, stress relief annealing is recommended after severe forming operations. The material demonstrates particularly low hysteresis loss and eddy current loss, making it ideal for high-efficiency electrical applications. Proper handling and storage in clean, dry conditions are essential to prevent surface contamination that could affect magnetic performance.
