### **Product Datasheet: AL 800™ / INCOLOY® 800 (UNS N08800)** **A Nickel-Iron-Chromium Alloy for High-Temperature Service** --- #### **1. Overview** **AL 800™**, commercially known as **INCOLOY® 800**, is a nickel-iron-chromium austenitic alloy designed for service in high-temperature environments. This alloy exhibits excellent strength and resistance to oxidation and carburization at elevated temperatures, along with good resistance to scaling and corrosion in various atmospheres. The alloy's balanced composition provides outstanding metallurgical stability through the addition of titanium and aluminum, which also help to stabilize the alloy against sensitization and intergranular corrosion. AL 800 maintains its properties under prolonged exposure to temperatures ranging from 540°C to 1100°C (1000°F to 2000°F). --- #### **2. Chemical Composition (Typical Weight %)** | Element | Content (%) | Role in the Alloy | | | --- | --- | | **Nickel (Ni)** | ~30.0-35.0 | Provides matrix stability and corrosion resistance | | **Chromium (Cr)** | ~19.0-23.0 | Confers oxidation and corrosion resistance | | **Iron (Fe)** | Balance (~39.5) | Forms the primary alloy matrix | | **Carbon (C)** | ≤ 0.10 | Controlled for optimal high-temperature strength | | **Aluminum (Al)** | ~0.15-0.60 | Stabilizing element for high-temperature performance | | **Titanium (Ti)** | ~0.15-0.60 | Stabilizing element, controls grain growth | | **Manganese (Mn)** | ≤ 1.50 | Residual element | | **Copper (Cu)** | ≤ 0.75 | Residual element | | **Silicon (Si)** | ≤ 1.00 | Residual element | | **Sulfur (S)** | ≤ 0.015 | Controlled impurity | --- #### **3. Physical Properties (Typical)** | Property | Value / Condition | | | --- | | **Density** | 7.94 g/cm³ (0.286 lb/in³) | | **Melting Range** | 1350-1400 °C (2460-2550 °F) | | **Thermal Expansion Coefficient** | 14.4 μm/m·°C (20-1000°C) | | **Thermal Conductivity** | 11.2 W/m·K (at 100°C) | | **Modulus of Elasticity** | 196 GPa (28.4×10⁶ psi) | | **Electrical Resistivity** | 0.99 μΩ·m | | **Specific Heat** | 500 J/kg·K (at 20°C) | --- #### **4. Mechanical Properties (Annealed Condition)** **Room Temperature Properties:** * **Tensile Strength**: 450-620 MPa (65-90 ksi) * **Yield Strength (0.2% Offset)**: 170-345 MPa (25-50 ksi) * **Elongation**: 30-45% **High-Temperature Performance:** * Good creep and stress-rupture properties at elevated temperatures * Maintains structural integrity under thermal cycling conditions * Excellent fatigue resistance at high temperatures --- #### **5.
