Property description: The properties of C.I. Pigment White 10 (513-77-9):
It has three crystalline states: α, β, and γ.
The industrial product is a white powder. The relative density is 4.43. The melting point of the granular form is 1740℃ (90.9×10³ Pa), and the β form transforms into the α form at 982℃, and the γ form transforms into the β form at 811℃. It is almost insoluble in water, insoluble in alcohol, and soluble in acids and ammonium chloride solutions. It decomposes at 1450℃ to form barium oxide and carbon dioxide. It decomposes upon contact with acid and reacts with sulfuric acid to form a white barium sulfate precipitate. It has slight hygroscopicity. It is toxic.
