E FORU specializes in producing high purity Potassium Thiocyanate,CAS : 333-20-0 with the smallest possible average grain sizes,Purities may include 99%, 99.9%, 99.99%, 99.999% and 99.9999%, which are sometimes referred to as 2N, 3N, 4N, 5N and 6N. 99.99995% (6N5), and in some cases up to 99.99999% (7N) and 99.999999% (8N),E FORU produces to many standard grades when applicable, including Mil Spec (military grade); ACS, Reagent and Technical Grade; Food, Agricultural and Pharmaceutical Grade; Optical Grade, USP and EP/BP (European Pharmacopoeia/British Pharmacopoeia) and follows applicable ASTM testing standards. Typical and custom packaging is available. Our standard powder particle sizes average in the range of - 325 mesh, - 200 mesh,- 100 mesh, 10-50 microns and submicron ( 16 micron). We can also provide in the nanoscale range.Powders are also useful in any application where high surface areas are desired such as water treatment and in fuel cell and solar applications. Nanoparticles also produce very high surface areas.Thiocyanates are salts containing the thiocyanate anion [SCN]− (also known as rhodanide or rhodanate). [SCN]− is the conjugate base of thiocyanic acid. Common salts include the colourless salts potassium thiocyanate and sodium thiocyanate. Mercury(II) thiocyanate was formerly used in pyrotechnics.Thiocyanate is analogous to the cyanate ion, [OCN]−, wherein oxygen is replaced by sulfur. [SCN]− is one of the pseudohalides, due to the similarity of its reactions to that of halide ions. Thiocyanate used to be known as rhodanide (from a Greek word for rose) because of the red colour of its complexes with iron..Quality inspection department staff which uses atomic spectroscopy, x-ray diffraction analysis, scanning electron microscopy, glow discharge mass spectroscopy (GDMS), and BET surface area analysis, among other technologies, to ensure that the elemental composition and structural properties of each product rigorously adhere to our standards.Additional technical, research and safety (MSDS) information is available,

Potassium ThiocyanateCAS #: 333-20-0Chem-TT016-CU-CUCustomized
CAS #: 333-20-0 Linear Formula: KSCN MDL Number: MFCD00011413 EC No.: 206-370-1Synonyms Potassium Rhodanide, Thiocyanic acid potassium salt, Kaliumthiocyanat, Potassium thiocyanide, Rodanca, Potassium sulfocyanate, CKNSThiocyanate shares its negative charge approximately equally between sulfur and nitrogen. As a consequence, thiocyanate can act as a nucleophile at either sulfur or nitrogen—it is an ambidentate ligand. [SCN]− can also bridge two (M−SCN−M) or even three metals (>SCN− or −SCN<). Experimental evidence leads to the general conclusion that class A metals (hard acids) tend to form N-bonded thiocyanate complexes, whereas class B metals (soft acids) tend to form S-bonded thiocyanate complexes. Other factors, e.g. kinetics and solubility, are sometimes involved, and linkage isomerism can occur, for example [Co(NH3)5(NCS)]Cl2 and [Co(NH3)5(SCN)]Cl2. It [SCN] is considered as a weak ligand. ([NCS] is a strong ligand),Thiocyanate is produced by the reaction of elemental sulfur or thiosulfate with cyanide:8 CN− + S8 → 8 SCN−CN− + S2O2−3 → SCN− + SO2−18,Oxidation of thiocyanate inevitably produces bisulfate. The other product depends on pH: in acid, it is hydrogen cyanide, presumably via HOSCN and with a sulfur dicyanide side-product; but in base and neutral solutions, it is cyanate.
