### **Technical Datasheet: Nickel 200 Bar (Round & Flat) UNS N02200**
#### **1. Product Overview**
**Nickel 200 Bar** (commercially known as **Alloy 200 Bar** and standardized as **UNS N02200**) is a wrought product form supplied as round bars and flat bars. Fabricated from commercially pure nickel (99.6% minimum), this material is renowned for its exceptional corrosion resistance, high thermal and electrical conductivity, and favorable magnetic properties.
Nickel 200 Round Bar and Flat Bar are widely used in machined components, fasteners, and structural parts within aggressive environments. They offer excellent mechanical properties from cryogenic temperatures up to approximately **315°C (600°F)**. The alloy is easily machinable, weldable, and formed, making it a versatile choice for engineering applications.
**High-Temperature Advisory:** For sustained service above 315°C (600°F), **Nickel 201 Bar (UNS N02201)** is the recommended grade. Its lower carbon content prevents embrittlement caused by grain-boundary carbide precipitation, which can occur in Nickel 200 at elevated temperatures.
#### **2. Chemical Composition (% Weight)**
The composition meets the requirements of international bar standards such as ASTM B160.
| Element | Content (%) (ASTM B160) | Content (%) (Typical) |
| :--- | :--- | :--- |
| **Nickel (Ni)** | 99.0 min | ≥ 99.6 |
| **Carbon (C)** | 0.15 max | 0.08 |
| **Manganese (Mn)** | 0.35 max | 0.20 |
| **Iron (Fe)** | 0.40 max | 0.20 |
| **Copper (Cu)** | 0.25 max | 0.15 |
| **Silicon (Si)** | 0.35 max | 0.15 |
| **Sulfur (S)** | 0.01 max | 0.005 |
#### **3. Physical Properties**

#### **6. Key Characteristics & Advantages**
* **Superior Corrosion Resistance:** Demonstrates excellent resistance to caustic alkalis (e.g., sodium hydroxide), dilute hydrochloric and sulfuric acids, and various neutral and reducing salt solutions. Highly resistant to chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking.
* **Excellent Fabricability:** Nickel 200 bar offers **good machinability** (rated at around 30% relative to free-cutting brass) and can be readily welded using all common techniques like GTAW (TIG) and GMAW (MIG).
* **High Conductivity:** Possesses high thermal and electrical conductivity, superior to most corrosion-resistant alloys.
* **Magnetic Properties:** Ferromagnetic at room temperature but becomes non-magnetic (paramagnetic) upon heating above its Curie temperature of approximately 360°C (680°F).
* **Cryogenic Toughness:** Maintains excellent ductility and impact strength at sub-zero temperatures.
