Product Datasheet: Magnesium Alloy AZ91A-F (Die Cast)**
#### **1. Overview**
Magnesium Alloy AZ91A-F is a high-strength, lightweight magnesium-aluminum-zinc alloy supplied in the as-die-cast condition. The **"F"** temper designation indicates that the components are used in their final state without post-casting heat treatment. As one of the most widely used die-casting magnesium alloys, AZ91A-F offers an excellent combination of castability, mechanical properties, and cost-effectiveness for high-volume production.
#### **2. Key Advantages**
- **Excellent Die Casting Performance:** Superior fluidity and thin-wall capability for complex geometries
- **High Strength-to-Weight Ratio:** Approximately 35% lighter than aluminum with good mechanical properties
- **Good Machinability:** Can be machined at high speeds with excellent surface finish
- **Good Electromagnetic Shielding Properties:** Effective EMI/RFI shielding capability
- **Cost-Effective Production:** Suitable for high-volume manufacturing
#### **3. Chemical Composition (Weight % per ASTM B94)**
| Element | Content (%) | Element | Content (%) |
|---------|-------------|---------|-------------|
| **Aluminum (Al)** | 8.3 - 9.7 | **Zinc (Zn)** | 0.35 - 1.0 |
| **Manganese (Mn)** | 0.13 - 0.50 | **Silicon (Si)** | ≤ 0.50 |
| **Copper (Cu)** | ≤ 0.10 | **Iron (Fe)** | ≤ 0.05 |
| **Nickel (Ni)** | ≤ 0.03 | **Other Elements** | ≤ 0.30 |
| **Magnesium (Mg)** | Balance | | |
*Note: Compared to high-purity grades like AZ91D, AZ91A has higher allowable limits for impurities such as iron, copper, and nickel, which may affect corrosion resistance in certain environments.*
